Club Fees

Renegades Volleyball Club is a California Non-Profit Corporation. What this means to you is that we are not designed to make a lot of money for one or two individuals. The only salaries paid are to our staff. Our income is allocated to expenses incurred in providing the best possible volleyball experience for each player.

2011-2012 Full Season Player Fees
The fee pays for coaching, facilities, uniforms, equipment and tournament fees. It does not cover travel expenses. If your team elects to attend additional tournaments, that expense will be born by your team and payment of the club fee is expected at the time you sign your commitment papers. For the 2011-2012 season, the club fees shall be $2,000.00. This includes 16 tournament days, 2 jerseys, sweatshirt, sweat pants, 3 practice t-shirts, shorts, facility insurance, team equipment, practice facilities, coaches salaries, whistle & lanyard, and a club backpack. If a team decides to attend an additional tournament, additional fees will be required. The fees are broken up as follows, $800.00 deposit at the signing meet the Wednesday following tryouts. The balance will be broken up into three (3) payments of $400.00 due October, November, & December 1st.

2011-2012 Practice Player Fees
The fee for practice players are $850.00. While a practice player will still get the club backpack, 3 practice t-shirts, sweatshirt, & sweat pants, along with full insurance, they will not participate in the season tournaments. This allows players who have full class schedules, other sports, or prior commitments the ability to continue to practice during the club season, and keep their skills sharp.

Travel Expenses
We will make a good faith estimate of the expense of any tournament travel. Billing for that will go out as far in advance as possible. Any player who has not paid his traveling expenses at least one week prior to departure will not be allowed to participate.

Refund Policy
The Club’s cost structure of a player’s participation is not variable. This means that if a player no longer plays with his team, the costs do not decrease: his Coach receives the same salary, the same gymnasium rental fees must be paid and his team’s tournament entry fees are unchanged. Therefore, there are NO REFUNDS.

Each travel tournament has fixed costs and each player is responsible for his share of those costs, even if the player does not go to the tournament (pro rata tournament fee, travel and lodging costs for coaches and chaperones, etc.). The decision to attend an additional tournament outside those designed for a team is a team decision and the financial cost will be born equally by all members of that team regardless of whether or not they attend.

Refunds will not be given for players or parents discharged from the club for disciplinary reasons.

Tournaments Covered By Your Fee
The Club has a budget for each team to attend eight (8) days of Power League Play, the Far Westerns National Qualifier Tournament (two day event) and three (3) days of non-league tournaments, and the 3 day Southern California Invitational Tournament.

Additional National Qualifiers and out of region events are all optional tournaments. Each team will have the option of attending or not attending any of these. We will work that out with each team, during our parents meeting and orientation.

FAQs

What Is Club Volleyball?

Club volleyball is a nationally organized program sanctioned by USA Volleyball. Club Volleyball offers athletes the opportunity to participate within various clubs after their school volleyball season. Club Volleyball is an avenue for boys to play in competitive tournaments and get advanced training. It is open to high school and junior high school boys and is not affiliated with any particular school. Players participate within their age group, and can compete at the local, regional, and national levels.

What Makes Renegades Different?

The most significant way Renegades is different, would come from our motto that "Renegades is more than a club, it's a family." The Renegades staff, board, & volunteers work very hard to make sure that all our players and parents feel welcome. Our unique philosophy, allows us to grow every year and allow more kids the opportunity to play club volleyball. From our founding, you will always see Renegades cheering on our other teams during tournaments. The fact that we are a club and here for one another, is shown over and over every season, and is the primary key to our success.

How Long Is The Season?

Our season runs from August to the middle of January every year. We end our season over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in Southern California at the SCVA Invitational. Our season includes the NCVA Boy's Power League as well as the No Dinx/NCVA Jr. Far Westerns National Qualifier.

The spring program includes attending the SCVA Classic as well as Junior Olympics. This is a separate season with a separate fee structure.

What Level Of Commitment Is Needed?

You are a member of the team! Each team, relies on each member to perform and participate at every tournament and at every practice. Once the rosters have been chosen after tryouts, and you accept your spot, we expect you to continue to participate at every event until the end of the season. Teams are machines that only work well when all of its parts are working in unison. Thus, you as a teammate are needed in order for the team to work correctly.

When Do Teams Practice?

It is very important that all athletes at Renegades Volleyball Club attend practices on a regular basis.  Club volleyball is very different than high school volleyball in the fact that high school teams practice almost every day, whereas Club teams do not.  Therefore, you need to come to practice in order to get the maximum benefit of the program.

Please remember athletes and their families are paying for instruction, not playing time.  The vast majority of the instruction takes place in practices.

Teams will practice twice during the week.  Teams may not always be at the same facility for both practices.  This is due to gym availability.  Please check club website for the most updated schedule.

The following is a list of rules for practices:

All coaches, athletes, and parents shall treat the facilities with respect. Renegades Volleyball Club will have zero tolerance in regards to property destruction and will ask the athlete to leave the program with no refund if the problem arises.

Arrive at practice a minimum of 15 minutes early. The scheduled time is the start time for practice, NOT the arrival time.  This will allow the athlete time to get dressed for practice and get warmed up before the scheduled starting time.  Remember if you are early, you are on time; if you are on time, then you are late. Usually the coach’s watch is 5 minutes fast.

Players are to bring their own towels and water bottles to practice.

Players are required to help set up and put away equipment for practice.  No athlete leaves the facility until equipment and trash are put away.  Continued abuse of this rule will result in that team’s loss of the practice facility.

It is the coach’s discretion as to whether or not practices are open or closed to parents & observers.

Practice is a time for coaches and players to work together to improve the individual skills of the athletes and to learn how to become cohesive as a team. It is the responsibility of the athletes to work hard at every practice and be cooperative with the other athletes on the team and the coaches.  If the athlete is not conducive to the learning environment or is goofing off, the athlete may be dismissed from practice.

If an athlete cannot make it to a practice for any reason, it is the responsibility of the athlete to call his coach before the practice begins and state why he cannot be there.

If a practice is cancelled, the coach will notify everyone on the team in advance by either calling each athlete or utilizing a phone tree to get the word across faster.

Practice uniform:  Athletes are given three (3) practice t-shirts. Please use them.

What Is The Policy On Play Time?

Playing time is a concern that arises nearly every season. It is important that a player trust his coach. Coaches are very cognizant of playing time and want each player to have the opportunity to play successfully. If a player works hard and demonstrates in practice the ability to perform the skills necessary to play the game, he will be given the opportunity to play. When given the opportunity to play, each player must bring to the court the skills that he demonstrated in practice that earned the playing time. If play in the game does not match his success during practice, then he must rededicate himself on the practice court. This cycle can only lead to success for the team as well as the player. In club volleyball, there is no guaranteed court time for any player during a tournament, though it is hoped that there will be an opportunity for all players to gain some “on court” experience during the course of the season.
